Western Goldenrod (Euthamia occidentalis). Herbaceous perennial.
Sometimes we don’t plant natives to conserve water. This is a plant that likes wet feet, growing in the American River Parkway in soil that’s wet. It’s a great choice for a lower area of a rain garden, too.
There is another species of goldenrod: solidago. They can grow drier than this plant, so you can still have a native goldenrod and conserve water, too.
