Miner’s Lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata). Annual. If you came to our February meeting, you might have snacked on the leaves of this plant. It tastes similar to romaine lettuce.
Man-Root (Marah sp.). Herbaceous vine These vines in the squash family grow rapidly from underground tubers, disappearing in summer’s heat.
Fiddlenecks (Amsinckia sp.) Annual. This is typically one of the first annuals to bloom, coloring sizable areas with its yellow flowers.
Bush Monkeyflower (Mimulus hybrids) Evergreen (with water, shorter life) or summer deciduous shrubs These plants are likely hybrids, not individual species. Their flowers are larger and the colors somewhat different than the pure species.
